JANET R. CROSSER
Co-Founder and President of the Crosser Family Foundation
Janet was born in South Bend, Indiana on January 9, 1937. Moved to Lafayette, Indiana in 1951. Graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1954. Went to Patricia Stevens Modeling School. She went on to work for National Homes in Lafayette, Indiana where she met Richard. Janet and Richard were happily married for 40 years until Richard’s passing in 2002.
While being a mother to three, she volunteered her time at St. Vincent Hospital and enjoyed singing with Capital City Chorus. She went on to work for Dr. Klutinoty in Carmel, Indiana, then for Carmel OB/GYN for 13 years.
Janet loves to dance, golf, and spend time in Bonita Springs, Florida and spend time with her family and friends. Janet is also a 7 year breast cancer survivor.
Janet continues the initiative of the foundation that she and her late husband established: community involvement helping families and children in need in Central Indiana.
RICHARD H. CROSSER
Co-Founder of the Crosser Family Foundation
The late Richard H. Crosser was born on October 4, 1936 in Lafayette, Indiana. Graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1956. Graduated from IU in 1961 with a Business Degree. Shortly after, he went on to work for National Homes in Lafayette, Indiana.
In the mid seventies, Richard along with his partner John Scheumann founded Deluxe Homes. Deluxe Homes became the public company known as Crossmann Communities in the early 90’s and became one of the largest homebuilders in the United States. Crossmann Communities was acquired by Beazer Homes in 2002. After retiring from the homebuilding business, Richard co-founded and established the Crosser Family Foundation before he passed away that next year in November of 2002.
Richard and Janet are parents of three, Craig, Clark and Carrie, and Grandparents (Nana and Pappy) to nine: Ash, Garson, Mya, Sydney, Ella, Mark, Porter, Krew and step-grandson, Adam.
